Jean Leake Emerging Markets Scholarship

Jean Leake, MAR Realtor® member, was instrumental in establishing MAR’s Minority Realtors® Support Group and Equal Opportunity Committee. Jean also helped to create the Minority Dues Assistance Program.

In Jean’s honor, MAR will send two Realtor® members who are committed to serving emerging market communities to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Midyear Legislative meetings held every May in Washington, DC.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to serve the emerging markets communities, with particular efforts to increase homeownership among diverse communities in Minnesota. Applicants who are passionate about closing the homeownership gap, immigration issues, community/civic involvement, inclusion and diversity issues, and international real estate markets are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  • Must be a primary member of MAR for a minimum of two years
  • Applicant actively works to close the racial inequities driving the homeownership gap
  • Applicant is actively involved in community and civic engagement that promote inclusion and diversity
  • Pay it forward – applicant agrees to volunteer their time to serve on either a MAR Committee or Task Force in the coming year
  • Willing to write a short summary of their experience to be feature on our website and social channels

Ann Brockhouse Future Leader Scholarship

Ann Brockhouse, MAR past president, Realtor® leader and a great contributor to the Realtor® community had a heart for identifying and recruiting new potential leaders. Her contributions did not end at MAR. She served on the Board of Directors and the Professional Standards Committee of the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®.

In honor of her dedication and commitment to MAR and the Realtor® community, we are offering a scholarship to enable an individual to attend the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Midyear Meetings in Washington, DC. Applicant must be willing to demonstrate leadership abilities within MAR and the REALTOR® community.

Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills in the real estate industry, association or community
  • Must be a primary member of MAR for a minimum of two years
  • Pay it forward – agrees to volunteer their time to serve on either a MAR Committee or Task Force in the coming year
  • Willing to write a short summary of their experience to be feature on our website and social channels
