Meet Your Foundation Trustee: Matt Wandzel Tags: Community

The MAR Foundation’s activities are governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees – a dedicated group of volunteers who care deeply about ensuring everyone has a place to call home. One of those volunteers is Vice Chair Matt Wandzel.

Why he’s a Trustee:

“I believe it’s essential to be involved in your communities, both at home and at work. The MAR Foundation is doing some amazing things and I got involved so I can partner with other incredible individuals to further the impact of Realtors in the effort to support efforts to end homelessness in our communities.”

Why he’s a realtor:

“I’m a big picture person. In real estate I’m able to help someone throughout the entire process of buying a home. That includes bringing first-time homebuyers from the first meeting where they know next to nothing to the closing where they celebrate the purchase of their new home. It’s incredibly rewarding to see it all come together.”

Why he serves:

“My parents always taught me that if you have an opportunity to help someone, then you should find a way to do it. This has carried with me and why I love real estate. Not only do I get to help people with one of the biggest purchases in their lives, but the job has the flexibility for me to volunteer with committees like the MAR Foundation and to also use my hobbies to connect and help people.”

Serving through his hobbies:

“Cycling is a big passion of mine. I co-lead a cycling club out of Utepils Brewery in Minneapolis. I assist in the donation of over 40 bikes annually to local non-profits that help children get into cycling. I also raise approximately $1,000 annually for the MS150 bike ride to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.”
