We recently celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Housing for Heroes project at 3530 Humboldt Ave N in Minneapolis—a new housing opportunity for veterans transitioning out of homeless. We’re especially excited to see this home come to life, as a MAR Foundation grant allowed for the construction of a separate 1-bedroom unit called an Accessory Dwelling Unit, meaning that an additional individual will be able to transition into a safe, stable place to live. And what’s more: veterans living in the units will receive help from the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans to overcome barriers in housing, employment and legal issues.
We’re proud to partner with Housing First Minnesota, who has led this project to completion:
The four-bedroom home with a one-bedroom accessory dwelling unit (ADU) will help address a growing need for housing for veterans who are experiencing homelessness. Projects like this take lots of funding. This is the first Housing for Heroes project that includes an ADU. We want to thank our ADU supporter, the Minneapolis Area REALTORS® Foundation, for making an extremely generous contribution to this project. Thank you so much for your support!
We’re also so grateful to our MAR members. It’s your generous contributions to the MAR Foundation that helps bring projects like this to life. More of our Minneapolis neighbors will now have a safe place to call home—this is your impact. “Every donation to the MAR Foundation goes to a housing based non-profit, making a direct impact on the Twin Cities community,” said MAR Foundation Chair Matt Wandzel. This project is a great example of the investment MAR members continue making to help neighbors in their communities.”
“Housing for Heroes” is a partnership of the Housing First Minnesota Foundation, Lennar and the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. We are proud to support this work!
