I have served on several boards including the Firefighter’s Museum.
The Twin Cities Metro is facing a housing shortage unlike any we have experienced in recent history. What will you do to increase the number of homes available to residents of your community?
I would like to see more options of senior one level living for our long time residents to move into as that is the repeated message I hear from long time residents. They want to stay in the community but no options for that type of housing.
Minnesota has one of the largest homeownership gaps between Whites and Blacks, Indigenous, and People of Color. This is one of MAR’s primary concerns. What would you propose at the local level to close this home ownership gap?
We have, I believe, 4 lots scheduled for housing projects that will address in part that issues.
How do you think your city can best balance the rights of tenants and property owners to effectively manage rental housing?
Effective standardized codes that are evenly applied to ensure that properties are maintained and renters are protected from property maintenance issues.
What are your views on property tax rates in your community? Do you have concerns related to your city’s property tax rate? If so, how would you address those concerns once elected?
Property tax rates can be controlled partially on a local level. This is done by effective management of the city finances and expenditures. A thorough review of expenditures is needed and innovative ways of delivering city services needs to be a priority. The county imposes property taxes that the city council does not make decisions on.
