Introducing our new CEO, Carrie Chang

We are pleased to announce that Carrie Chang has joined Minneapolis Area REALTORS® as the Chief Executive Officer.

Carrie has extensive experience across corporate and nonprofit sectors. She was an executive with Greater Twin Cities United Way, worked in marketing at General Mills and in management consulting with Accenture.

“We conducted an extensive search, and based on Carrie’s strong skills, knowledge and abilities, we believe she is the right leader for our organization,” said Minneapolis Area REALTORS® (MAR) Search Committee Chair, Cari Linn.

MAR President, Todd Urbanski sees this transition as a continuation of the great work the MAR Board of Directors and staff is embarking upon with their strategic plan. “It calls for initiatives that strengthen our member and public communications, and it will be exciting to watch how Carrie’s strategic marketing and donor engagement background can help bring this to life.”

Carrie is excited to get started. “I am grateful for the opportunity to support REALTORS® who are a vital part of our region and communities. I look forward to working with the MAR staff and partnering with this engaged board as we serve our members and the public,” said Carrie Chang, MAR CEO.

She holds a bachelor’s in economics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and earned her MBA from Kellogg School of Management. A resident of Edina along with her husband, Jin, and their two daughters, Chang grew up in a suburb of St. Paul but moved to the west metro upon her return to Minnesota after graduate school.

After one week on the job, we asked Carrie a few questions to help you get to know her:

As CEO, what are you most looking forward to?

I am very eager to dive into the business and get out and meet with our association stakeholders: Members, Board of Directors, committee volunteers, government officials, and other organizations in our industry. Real estate and homeownership are key issues in our community and will be for the foreseeable future. I’m looking forward to making an impact that benefits our members and our neighborhoods.

What’s your primary focus during the first few months?

Job number one is to learn from our wonderful staff and board members. I’m new to the real estate industry and will lean on their expertise in the beginning. Even one week in, the onboarding has been fantastic! At the same time, I will use my business experience to ensure we are focusing our association resources in the areas of highest value to members AND to be more clearly and consistently telling the story of that value to each and every Minneapolis Area REALTORS® member.

What inspires you?

Giving back to my community and serving others. Working with purpose is what is most inspiring to me. I am excited to serve our staff through my leadership and thereby serve our members by elevating our profession. Leading teams to achieve ambitious goals and watching them grow is what it’s all about.

Get to know Carrie at a CEO Meet and Greet and at the REALTOR® Summit on April 25.
