MAR’s Government Affairs Committee, in conjunction with the Minnesota RPAC Trustees, sent letters to all filed candidates in its service area and will be interviewing County Commissioner candidates this week Wednesday.

The University of Minnesota delayed move-in for on-campus housing, starting the year with online classes for the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth campuses for the first two weeks of school.

Minnesota Senate held a contentious hearing involving the Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce, Steve Kelley, last Friday. Today, the Senate followed up by holding a separate hearing involving Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Laura Bishop. Senate Republicans are disappointed the Enbridge Line 3 is being held up and moving too quickly to adopt California emission standards. The Senate is not currently officially convened so no new action can occur to confirm or vote against confirmation, though the Senate is likely preparing to take official action should another fourth special session be called.

Current Eviction and Foreclosure Moratoriums now run through 9/11/2020 and Governor Walz has been using the calling of new Special Sessions to secure each extension.

Wisconsin has called out the National Guard in response to growing unrest sparked by the latest police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The Republican National Convention is this week, follow the speeches here. The National Association of REALTORS® has joined a coalition asking for FHFA to remove a new fee on refinance mortgages.
