Housing Day at the Capitol

Realtors® from across Minnesota met with state legislators last week to discuss the critical role real estate plays in the economy. Members expressed our support for increasing homeownership and removing barriers for homeowners, including the challenges of saving for a down payment and market conditions to encourage the sale of homes at affordable price points. Elected officials shared our concerns of stark inventory shortages and listened to members’ encouragement to do no harm to housing by opposing legislation that would increase the cost of real estate transactions or building new homes.

Bloomington

On March 17, the City of Bloomington held an information session for Realtors® on Time of Sale Housing (TOSH) evaluation. MAR’s Advocacy team is working with Minnesota’s Center for Energy & Environment on the proposed Time of Sale Energy Disclosure (TISH) that the City of Bloomington is considering. As proposed, this program is identical to that in Minneapolis except it adds A/C and Water Heater evaluations. Realtors® joined the listening session to learn about the future of this program and its impacts on their business.
