Dear valued Minneapolis Area Realtors® (MAR) members,
Thank you for choosing to be a MAR member this past year, and for all you have done to navigate a changing market and required practice changes in 2024. As we hosted classes, events, and mastermind opportunities at the association, it was you—our 9,000 members—who kept us as staff and the 22 volunteer board members focused on providing support to help you succeed. In the process, you also continued building upon the strong sense of community we share here at MAR.
Last year an area of great progress in our three-year Strategic Plan was creating more choice for our brokers to ensure we’re fully articulating the business value of Realtor® membership. The post-NAR settlement practice changes presented a great opportunity for MAR to showcase that value with transparent and timely updates, dozens of classes and forums for brokers and agents around practice changes and serving as the dependable one-stop shop for resources from the local, state, and national Realtor® associations and the regional MLS.
On the advocacy front, the association also made headway. MAR played an important role defeating a restrictive sale ordinance in the Minneapolis City Council. This was a big win for Realtors® and most importantly, for property owners who maintain the ability to sell to the broadest market, and for homebuyers whose right to purchase properties was also preserved.
In closing, we hope you can see that as our industry evolves, so does MAR. We continue to listen to your feedback and adapt and as a result you will see more member-exclusives like relevant resources and networking opportunities in the new year. Examples are our new MAR Awards event, highlighting member successes, and a new website (coming soon!) with a more user-friendly design—be sure to check us out.
