Like many brokerages, we’ve taken a fresh look at how our office space is used. A thorough analysis of our needs and the financial implications of our options (alongside Rokos Advisors, leaders in the commercial real estate arena) made it clear: in today’s market, leasing a modern space would provide MAR the flexibility and efficiency to best serve our members.
Years in the Making
- This was not a quick or reactive move. Over the past several years, the MAR Board of Directors and its task forces thoroughly evaluated all options, from renovating our current building to selling and relocating.
- Our building served us well. We’re grateful to the generations of MAR board leaders who stewarded this asset responsibly, resulting in a quick sale at a strong price.

Why did MAR sell the building?
This is about long-term stewardship of member dollars for the highest impact on member value. This move frees our capital to invest more directly in the services, technology, and experiences that more members feel directly every day.
We're Realtors®, shouldn't we own our building?
Commercial ownership is very different from residential. After a thorough analysis, it became clear that in today’s market, leasing offers greater flexibility, reduced risk, and a better long-term financial outcome for MAR and our members.
This decision was made from a position of strength as MAR has strong financial reserves and the building was in good condition, attracting multiple strong offers. This is a proactive, strategic choice—not a reactive one.
How was this decision made?
A board-led task force of members and MAR leadership worked with commercial real estate advisors (Rokos Advisors) to evaluate multiple scenarios, including renovation. This has been a multi-year process grounded in member input and surveys, market data, and long-term business planning.
How does this impact classes, events or services?
MAR is temporarily be located next to Minnesota Realtors® at 11100 Bren Rd. W while our new permanent office at Crescent Ridge Corporate Center is being built out. We expect to move this winter.
Throughout these transitions, services will continue as usual! Some classes and events may be held at alternate locations, so members should keep an eye on event details.
