0 - 1.5 C.E.

In this course we will define the role of Agency and discuss Minnesota Agency law and related fiduciary responsibilities. The program also includes a look at confusing issues Realtors® face when working with buyers and sellers. Finally, we will look at some of the big questions and issues around agency in a transaction.

In-Person only

We will go over buyer and seller activity, market reports, how and why to use them and then dive right into various market indicators, areas and segments.

This one-hour course reviews the changes to the 2026 Minnesota Realtors® forms effective August 1, 2026, with a focus on practical application for Minnesota real estate licensees. The course covers key updates to residential and commercial transaction forms, including purchase agreements, amendments, common interest community disclosures, well water inspection language, seller disclosure updates, solar power system disclosures, agent material fact disclosures, referral agreements, and related risk-management considerations.

Licensees will learn how the updated forms affect transaction documentation, disclosure obligations, contingency language, timeline calculation, and broker/agent workflow. The course is designed to help agents identify when to use updated or newly created forms, understand the purpose of the changes, and reduce avoidable transaction risk through better form selection and documentation practices.

2 - 2.5 C.E.

This 2-hour course is designed to give real estate professionals a clear and thorough understanding of agency relationships, focusing on the legal and ethical standards set by Minnesota law and National Realtor® guidelines. Participants will learn about key aspects of agency, including fiduciary duties, agency roles, dual agency, and the critical documentation that ensures transparent and compliant transactions. Through case studies and practical examples, agents will deepen their understanding of how to effectively represent clients, navigate complex situations, and adapt to recent changes in the industry.

This comprehensive 2-hour course will equip real estate professionals with the knowledge and tools to actively promote fair housing practices. You’ll explore the historical context of housing discrimination, including racial zoning, redlining, and the lasting impacts of segregation. Learn about key federal laws like the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the Fair Housing Act of 1968, as well as state and local regulations. The course also covers current-day issues, including implicit bias, steering, appraisal bias, and controversial practices like pocket listings and love letters. Through case studies and practical examples, you’ll gain insights on how to uphold ethical standards, ensure compliance with Fair Housing laws, and become a champion for equality in housing.

This course delves into communication styles and cultural dimensions needed for successfully working in global markets and the United States, including understanding how conflict may arise from misunderstandings. This course will also provide a framework to prepare Realtors® for doing business overseas as well as for foreign Realtors® doing business in the U.S. A discussion with an expert panel of CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist) Realtors® will offer a unique perspective in the field.

In-Person Class Only

This course teaches Realtors® the unique laws and forms relating to the condo and townhome market. Attendees will also learn the steps to correctly list and sell condos and townhomes, as it typically differs from dealing with single family homes.

This class is designed to enhance real estate agents’ understanding of financing options, with a particular focus on down payment assistance (DPA) programs, to better support clients throughout the home-buying process. Topics include an overview of various financing options, types of DPA programs, and eligibility requirements. Participants will learn how DPA can impact a buyer’s purchasing power and gain insight into the financing process, including communication with key players like lenders and mortgage brokers. Strategies for educating clients on financing options and addressing common misconceptions will be covered, along with real-life case studies and interactive role-playing exercises. By the end of the course, agents will be equipped to guide clients effectively and confidently through the complexities of real estate financing.

Many consumers obtain homeownership through the use of programs that offer financing assistance. These programs can be the beginning of a legacy, of familial wealth, providing access to better educational and job opportunities and other positive life necessities. In this course we will explore the demographics and statistics of consumers utilizing finance program assistance to debunk myths and stereotypes; and provide a clear understanding of what consumers have to endure to receive the assistance. If you aren’t familiar with financing programs, you will learn about a few of the more known programs such as MN Housing, PRG, HUD, Habitat for Humanity, Land Trust and etc.

This course will cover how the shift in demand and supply are impacting market dynamics and highlight the impact of changing interest rates, affordability, and price growth.  We will examine the Twin Cities market updates using the latest Northstar data.

Many buyers utilize programs and down payment assistance to obtain homeownership.  This course will take a deep dive into some Minnesota and National lending Programs to help agents better serve their buyer client needs.  We will also discuss some of the recent form changes to help provide a better understanding of the changes and their impact on future homeownership.

Becoming a Realtor® requires a new member to learn and adhere to a higher code of ethics. In this course new members will learn about the history, current structure and articles of the Code of Ethics as implemented by the National Association of Realtors®. Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss with their peers how this relates to their interactions with consumers, to ensure they’re providing ethical and top notch service to them.

This course explores how the convergence of Property Technology (Prop-Tech), Financial Technology (Fin-Tech), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the Realtor®’S® role in today’s housing economy. Learn how emerging platforms are redefining consumer expectations, transaction processes, and the management of real estate equity. Realtors® will gain the insights needed to shift from being transaction facilitators to becoming strategic advisors, equity advocates, and interpreters of data in an increasingly tech-dominated marketplace. 

Participants will discover the latest innovations in Prop-Tech, Fin-Tech, and AI, understand their impact on consumer trust and market dynamics, and develop strategies to remain indispensable in the housing ecosystem of tomorrow.

3 - 3.75 C.E.

Most agents begin their business by representing buyers because they are the easiest to meet but often times buyers are in a hurry to see the house leaving agents less time to properly educate their client. This leads to frustration, missed opportunities and buyers who float between agents with no commitment or guidance. This course is designed to help improve our skills to better serve the buyer and give them the best education so that they’re SMART & successful Buyers. We’ll have open discussion about best practices and real-world examples of how we best represent buyers to ensure a positive outcome for clients, ourselves, and our peers.

In this course, you’ll learn valuable information on the various types of seller entities you may encounter as a listing agent. Learn “who” is given the authority to sign what on residential real estate forms, and what required documentation is needed. We’ll cover seller situations including: Probate Estates, Divorce, Bankruptcy, Power of Attorney, Guardianship/Conservatorship, Trusts, and Corporations/LLCs.

Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing helps real estate professionals recognize and interrupt stereotypical thinking, enabling them to avoid fair housing pitfalls and provide equal professional service to every customer or client. Participants will examine the history of bias in real estate, learn about the science of identity, study how implicit bias can lead to fair housing violations, and engage in interactive exercises to enhance communication skills and foster business relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Staging a property for sale is a transformative process that showcases a listing in order to attract the highest number of potential buyers. Through a series of “before & after” studies, agents will be able to provide staging advice that is effective and on-trend and will be able to guide sellers who desire to engage the services of a professional stager.

Learn to become a more effective communicator and connect successfully with even the most challenging personalities. Based on the work of Dr. David Merrill, who developed the original model of social styles, this program focuses on fostering more meaningful and effective relationships with clients and those we interact with daily. Utilizing a personal assessment, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of their interpersonal style and learn various ways to work effectively with different styles.

Representing clients in a real estate transaction always involves negotiation. Whether you represent the seller, the buyer, or both, understanding successful negotiation principles and strategies for implementing them is vital to working in your clients’ best interest.

This program features universal negotiation principles and connects them with strategies specific to real estate transactions and agency relationships.

In this course we will cover the basics of navigating and customizing the Instanet TransactionDesk software available through NorthstarMLS.  Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of where to find the appropriate forms needed for all aspects of a real estate transaction.  They will also learn how to set up their forms so their consumers and other parties needed can electronically sign using Authentisign.  The desktop and mobile versions will be covered, so be sure to bring your fully charged laptop and mobile devices to participate in the hands-on activities.

This course is currently awaiting approval from the Minnesota Department of Commerce. While approval is pending, you are welcome to reserve a date and time to host this class for your office. 

Are you new to using the MLS, need of a refresher or want to get up to speed with the new features? This is the class for you. In this course, you will learn the basics of MLS including property searches, contact management, automatic emails and all the latest and greatest new
features. You will learn all the tips and tricks to be more efficient.

Two of the most common issues that the licensee will face daily in their real estate business, are discussing agency law and fair housing laws with their clients. This class will overview Fair Housing, the history, the laws both federal and state and the methods to make sure the licensee and their clients stay compliant with the law. We will also look at some of the most recent issues regarding fair housing and discuss scenarios that may occur. The second section of this class we will explore agency law in Minnesota as well as the fiduciary duties and responsibilities licensees have with their clients. We will discuss what agency relationships are allowed under the law and when and how to discuss these options with the client.

This course provides valuable information on title insurance coverages. Exceptions, and what to look for in your title commitments for your transactions.  Many title “issues” can delay or prevent your transaction from closing.  Also covered are the challenges representing a buyer when purchasing new construction.  The last person of the course will be playing the “Legal trivia Pursuit” game which is a fun way to learn key legal points and competing with our fellow agents.  May the smartest team win!!!

Have you ever measured a house? Then how do you know how much finished square footage it has? How can you represent the home accurately in MLS if you don’t know this? In this class you’ll see real examples of how to measure a 1.5 story with the sloped ceiling (is all the space counted?) What’s considered above ground sf for a 4 level split? What is necessary for an area to be included in TFSF? And you’ll see all the tools you’ll need to do it. Want to quickly be able to estimate how much lake shore a property has? This is a practical class that will help you whether you are representing buyers or sellers. This is a comprehensive course on how to measure houses, how to calculate finished square footage, and what tools to use.

Not all homes are created equal for financing. In this course we’ll tackle some of the difficult questions when it comes to FHA and VA financing.

  • What is the difference in FHA and VA financing? 
  • How can a home become FHA or VA ready?
  • What are the benefits of an FHA or VA loan?
  • What does a Realtor® need to know when working with a client that is using a VA financing?

This course is designed to provide valuable information for the students to be able to recognize and troubleshoot the endless issues that can cause the transaction to cancel.  It starts with understanding how to do the research before writing a purchase agreement and end with a successful closing.  Issues covered are Divorce, Bankruptcy, Liens, Encroachments, Encumbrances, Probate, Adverse Possession, Prescriptive Easement, Affidavit Regarding Seller and Purchase Agreement.
