It is crucial that Realtor® voices and interests are represented at the state, local, and national legislature. This is your opportunity to ensure yours is heard on a fully-funded trip to Washington DC where you’ll attend the NAR Legislative Meetings.

Jean Leake Emerging Markets Scholarship
Jean Leake, MAR Realtor® member, was instrumental in establishing MAR’s Minority Realtors® Support Group and Equal Opportunity Committee. Jean also helped to create the Minority Dues Assistance Program.
Information
In Jean’s honor, MAR will send two Realtor® members who are committed to serving emerging market communities to the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Midyear Legislative meetings held every May in Washington, DC.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to serve the emerging markets communities, with particular efforts to increase homeownership among diverse communities in Minnesota. Applicants who are passionate about closing the homeownership gap, immigration issues, community/civic involvement, inclusion and diversity issues, and international real estate markets are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Applicant must be a primary member of MAR for a minimum of two years
- Applicant actively works to close the racial inequities driving the homeownership gap
- Applicant is actively involved in community and civic engagement that promote inclusion and diversity
- Pay it forward – applicant agrees to volunteer their time to serve on either a MAR Committee or Task Force in the coming year
- Applicant will be willing to write a short summary of their experience to be feature on our website and social channels
Ann Brockhouse Future Leader Scholarship
Ann Brockhouse, MAR past president, Realtor® leader and a great contributor to the Realtor® community had a heart for identifying and recruiting new potential leaders. Her contributions did not end at MAR. She served on the Board of Directors and the Professional Standards Committee of the Minnesota Association of Realtors®.

In honor of her dedication and commitment to MAR and the Realtor® community, we are offering a scholarship to enable an individual to attend the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Midyear Meetings in Washington, DC. Applicant must be willing to demonstrate leadership abilities within MAR and the Realtor® community.

- Applicant must demonstrate strong leadership skills in the real estate industry, association or community
- Applicant must be a primary member of MAR for a minimum of two years
- Pay it forward – applicant agrees to volunteer their time to serve on either a MAR Committee or Task Force in the coming year

Fran Davis Excellence in Advocacy Scholarship
Fran Davis was a MAR past president, Realtor® leader, and advocacy champion who was committed to the advancement of the real estate industry through fierce advocacy at the local, state and national levels. Her contributions included being on MAR’s Board of Directors, a Federal Political Coordinator, and an MN-RPAC and NAR Hall of Famer.

In Fran’s memory, MAR will send one Realtor® member who has exemplified a strong commitment to advocacy to the National Association of Realtors®® (NAR) Midyear Legislative meetings in July at Washington, DC. The GA Chair and Gov’t Affairs Director will appoint a Government Affairs Committee member who has shown an exceptional commitment to advocacy.
Requirements
- Applicant must have served on the MAR Government Affairs committee in the past year
- Applicant shows a genuine commitment to participating in GA advocacy outside regular meetings (i.e., Endorsement Interviews, LPC, attends official meetings with elected officials, providing testimony at public hearings).
- Applicant has been a Realtor® for at least 2 years
- Applicant is in good standing with MAR at the time of nomination and travel
- Applicant will be willing to write a short summary of their experience to be feature on our website and social channels
