This is your local and regional advocate and information resource for advancing and protecting private property rights and maintaining a vibrant real estate market in the greater Twin Cities area. Our local and regional government and community involvement enables the association to advocate for or against real estate related ordinances and regulations before they are approved or when an opportunity arises to amend a current ordinance or regulatory policy.

Public Affairs success encompasses three vital elements.
- Staff monitoring and lobbying real estate issues at the local and regional level.
- Grassroots member involvement including contacts with local and regional officials.
- Member contributions to the REALTOR® Political Action Committee. The PAC uses voluntary member contributions to provide financial assistance to local, state and federal candidates who listen to the needs of REALTORS® and America's property owners.
MAAR’s policy positions are formulated by the Public Policy Task Force, a group of volunteers who are interested in the impacts government legislation has on the real estate industry. The Task Force takes positions on issues at the local and regional levels, coordinates public education campaigns, monitors local elections and offers support to qualified and knowledgeable candidates for office.

If you would like to be a part of the Public Policy Task Force, please contact Julia Parenteau at juliap@mplsrealtor.com or 952.988.3124.
Want someone to come to your office meeting to discuss local and regional government affairs as concerns the residential real estate market? Contact Donnie Brown at donnieb@mplsrealtor.com.
