What'cha Gonna Do When They Come for You?
This course is designed to provide an introduction to RESPA Laws & Restina Letters. It will cover key principles of RESPA laws regarding settlement services in real estate. We will take look at specific sections of the RESPA law pertaining to kickbacks and fee splitting. Lastly, the course will provide an update to the latest changes in the law. Email Etiquette and a CAN of SPAM
This course is designed to introduce the real estate professional to effective client communication to email. We will take a look at how email has changed communication between the REALTOR® and the client. In addition we will address laws and rule around email in particular the federal CAN-SPAM Act that was recently updated in 2008. If you use email, you should be here. Wake Up, Shift Happens [FULL]
The only constant in our real estate market is change, and the only way to be prepared is to understand the reasons behind the changes. Get the answers to such questions as "When will buyers come back?" and "Why are there so many listings?" In this highly interactive course we will examine topics like recent market shifts, projections for the future, today's real estate consumer and more. Horror Stories from Title
This course is designed to educate the real estate professional on things that can go wrong before, during and after the closing with the owner's title. The course is also design to give the professional tips on how to prevent these surprises or horror stories from happening. Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Instructor: Laura Rooker. Credits: 1.

This Isn't Your Grandfather's FHA
You've been away too long. Consumers are counting on you to answer all their Federal Housing Administration (FHA) – insured mortgage questions. Are you prepared. This class will educate you on programs, products & benefits. Time: 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Instructor: Anita Olson. Credits: 1.

Short Sales: Basics for Sellers
Often sellers find themselves unaware and unprepared for the idea of a short sale. This class will help you serve sellers facing the possibility of a short sale or worse, foreclosure. Learn what options are available to homeowners, the Minnesota Foreclosure timeline, potential outcomes of a short sale and more. Get answers to the 4 most frequently consumer-asked questions about short sales and foreclosure. Time: 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Instructor: Vicki Schwartz. Credits: 1.

Agency [FULL]
In Agency you will look at Minnesota's Agency law and related fiduciary responsibilities. The program also includes a look at confusing issues Realtors face when working with friends or purchasing properties for their own use. Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Instructor: Chris Prescott. Credits: 1.

Fair Housing
Fair Housing will review the various federal and state protected classes and related Realtor duties. We will also take a look at real examples of possible fair housing violations. Time: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Instructor: Rob Mehta. Credits: 1.

Representing Sellers Like a Pro [FULL]
There are many benefits to serving as a listing agent, but there are several challenges as well. The first of these is how to get the listing. In this class you will learn valuable preparation techniques before ever making that next listing presentation. You will also leave the class with advice on how to communicate your value as a real estate professional to potential sellers. The greatest benefit of attending this class is that you will have an opportunity to present part of a listing presentation to the class and instructors. Then as a result get feedback to make your presentation a "winner" the next time you have the opportunity to make a listing presentation. Pictures that are Really Worth 1,000 Words
The real estate buyers repeatedly rank photographs as the most valuable part of real estate websites. However it seems that many real estate professionals struggle to present a sellers home through the best possible lens. In addition, many REALTORS® spend marketing dollars to have "professional" virtual tours done of homes without much guidance on how to get the most out of them for the seller. This course will address valuable tips for taking photos of properties and how to put the best virtual tour together. It will also introduce the real estate professional to Photostory3 from Microsoft which for free can take still photographs and create a virtual tour that is downloadable to mobile devices. The consumer today is increasingly using social networking sites to maintain relationships both personal and professional. This one hour session is designed to introduce the real estate professional to the world of Facebook, Linked-in and other social networking sites. We will take a look at how the real estate consumer is expecting us as professionals to stay in touch with over time, how to maintain a professional image while social networking and look at success cases of serving the consumer online. Time: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Instructor: Chelsie Foty. Credits: 1.

Marketing for Under $100 [FULL]
REALTORS® advertise to prospect for new clients and advertise property to benefit a client. In both cases there are national and state guidelines on advertising. However, there is no reason to feel confined. In this class we will explore marketing tips that fit even the smallest of marketing budgets and creative solutions to grow your business while ethically serving the real estate consumer. Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Instructor: Greg Sax. Credits: 2.

One Ringy Dingy: Cases from the Legal Hotline [FULL]
(for brokers and managers only)
Created especially for Brokers, this course will address a variety of issues currently facing brokers, agents and the consumer in this real estate market. The legal hotline is a resource available to real estate brokers in Minnesota and produces a wealth of real world situations and cases. This course will allow them here about issues around foreclosure, liability, broker supervision responsibilities, agency law, DOC complaints and much more. Time: 9:00 a.m. – noon. Instructor: Don Smith. Credits: 3.

The State of the Twin Cities Real Estate Market
This course is designed to be presented by the CEO of the Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® upon request at brokerage offices, associations, local real estate events and more. The subject matter is set in stone but actual data is flexible as markets shift. Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Instructor: Mark Allen. Credits: 1.
